Letters and other writings of Christopher Morley. Includes one letter dated 15 January 1921 to Horace R. Hayday; 3 letters (1929-1930) to Morley from Dorothy Bemis, a Philadelphia librarian, with a reply from Morley and a typed transcript of that reply; a letter of 1 December 1949 to Professor Percy V.D. Shelly (returned to Morley due to Shelly's death); a letter of 15 December 1949 to the University of Pennsylvania Press, in which Morley encloses his returned letter to Shelly; a postal card dated 10 January 1950 to Phelps Soule of Penn Press; and a University Library internal routing slip, apparently pertaining to Morley's correspondence with Soule. Also includes a typescript of the preface to The House of Dooner: the last of the friendly inns, by Christopher Morley & T.A. Daly (Philadelphia: David McKay company, 1928). It is addressed to "Tom" (probably Tom Daly) and is hand-dated 18 April 1928.

Thomas Augustine Daly was an American author and lecturer, best known for his humorous verse. Born in Philadelphia, he became a journalist, and used his ear for language to publish humorous verse and jokes in Italian and Irish dialects.
